rush auditions & some advice
Auditions
  1. Come five minutes before your scheduled audition. We'll have you fill out a form and chat up our rush managers before being ushered into your audition.
  2. First, we'll have you do a few warm-ups and warm-downs.
  3. Next, we'll move on to a few simple interval exercises and an optional sightsinging exercise.
  4. A cappella isn't just about being a soloist! You should be ready to do a few blend exercises. While you should let loose with your solo, save your vibrato on these.
  5. Lastly, prepare a solo to sing. This song should be one with which you're comfortable. We've heard from Mariah Carey to Mozart and everything in between, so don't stress about not having an aria ready - choose a piece that you're confident singing. Odds are, you'll sound better, perform better, and have more fun!

Some Advice

  1. Scheduling is key during rush! Tote your planner around and update it regularly - with auditions, rush meals, and singing desserts, you'll need one to keep track!
  2. Grab a map of campus! While Rush will help you learn your way around campus, you need to be able to find the audition spot first.
  3. Like all-male a cappella groups? Audition for one! Guys' groups can provide feedback on your audition and prep you for the real thing. Plus, you'll meet some great guys!
  4. If ever you have ANY questions, don't hesitate to contact our rush managers. We hope to make rush is as stress-free as possible.
