Battery recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba, and Dell, announced a voluntary recall of lithium-ion batteries used in certain computers. These lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. Companies are voluntarily recalling the affected batteries and initiating a worldwide exchange program to provide eligible customers with a new replacement battery, free of charge.
Apple has also determined that certain lithium-ion batteries containing cells manufactured by Sony Corporation of Japan pose a safety risk that may result in overheating under rare circumstances.
